VITO Active Trace
user's manual

Welcome to
VITO Active Trace, a specially designed application to watch your sports
progress by recording your tracks and storing all kinds of statistics for such
sport activities as mountain skiing, skiing, snowboarding, biking, cycling,
roller-skating, running.
Depending on the type of activity you perform Active Trace gives you specific
information on your achievements such as speed, acceleration, altitude and many,
many more... as well as it records and displays your tracks.
Downloadable version of VITO Active Trace is fully functional and has to
be purchased and activated for further usage after 14-day trial period. Please
purchase VITO Active Trace at vitotechnology.com
To activate:

connect
your device to Internet
· start VITO Active Trace
· go Menu > General > About
· press Activate button, type
into the empty field the activation code from the email you received from VITO
Technology after purchasing VITO Active Trace, choose “I have Internet” and
press Activate button below.
In case you can't connect to Internet from your pocket PC, activation
will take more time:
· start VITO Active Trace
· go Menu > General > About
· press Activate button, type into the empty field the activation code
from the email you received from VITO Technology after purchasing VITO Active
Trace, choose “I have no Internet” and press Activate button below. Carefully
read instructions on the screen. After you've performed the necessary action
you will receive an e-mail with the necessary instructions for completing your
activation.
Note: as you can see on-line activation is much
easier than the off-line variant, which can take considerably more time. We
recommend you on-line activation.

After
you have accepted the GPS connection you will be automatically taken to the
recording of a new track. It starts recording a track which has a name
year-month-date. If you record several tracks a day the name will be
year-month-date_number of a track. Above
the track there are current speed and height indicators. To create a new track click Menu > Track > New. To
pause or resume recording the track, tap Menu
> Track > Pause/ Resume. |

Your
tracks will be saved in the Google
Earth (see screenshot leftwards) format (.kmz
files) on the largest storage card you have (or if there is no storage card
then it will be saved on the main memory card) in the folder My Documents / ActiveTrace. Note: Before recording a new track make sure the satellite icon in the upper right
corner is of green color that indicates connection between your GPS receiver and satellites. You may put a pushpin
only while recording a track. To do this tap Pushpin in the bottom left corner of the screen. You may enter the name for
a pushpin and tap Ok. |

To view a track, tap Menu > Analyse.
There appears a list of recorded tracks. |

The Track
view displays your track and allows you to draw specific info about different
parts of your trip. It can also display different parameters (speed, height,
time) at a specific point of the trip when you click on the track. There is
a blue bar at the top of the screen with the name of the track you are
viewing in the moment. On the
left side of the screen there is a color bar indicating either the speed or
the altitude. If it indicates the speed of your movements
there is an icon with an image of a running man, if it indicates the altitude,
there is an icon with an image of mountains. To change it you need to tap an
icon with an image of a running man or mountains. OR you may tap Menu and
tick Speed
or Altitude. To zoom in and out use + and - buttons at the bottom of the screen. There
is also a scale indicator at the bottom of the screen. While recording a track
the points are also recorded. This points are: 1.
The
beginning of a track. 2.
Pushpin. 3.
Crossing
the pushpin. 4.
Disconnect. 5.
Break. 6.
The
end of the track. If you go
Menu>
Points, then there will appear a blue bar at the
bottom with the names of these points. By clicking arrows you can move from
one point to another. If you
want to see icons of these points you should tap Menu > Show icons. Another possible
option in the track view mode is to make selection of a part of the track to analyse the statistics of the selected part. First of
all, put a tick Menu>Points, then tap Menu> Selection>
Start selection, after that choose the point you want to start the
selection with (it should appear in the blue bar at the bottom of the
screen), then tap again Menu> Selection> there you will have a
choice what to do next: Start Selection (you will start selection from the beginning); Keep Selection (you will keep choosing the part of the track
from the marked point); Remove Selection (you will stop making selection); Deselect all before (the part of a track before the selected point
will be deselected); Deselect all after (the part of a track after the selected point will
be deselected). The selected part
will be colored, the deselected part will be of grey
color. After you have made a selection you may tap Menu> Statistics,
and there will appear information about the selected part of a track (speed,
distance, time, altitude, etc.). |

Statistics
view displays all the detailed info on your trip: Speed Distance Time Altitude
Angles To see the point of your
track when you were moving, e.g. with the max speed, click twice on the
corresponding value. This feature is available for all values to show your
performance at a certain trip point. Note: you can have all the indices displayed either in a metric,
imperial or nautical measuring system through Menu (Track Recording Mode)
> General > Units> Metric (or English or Nautical). |
